What to put in an internship certificate

Colleges and future employers read the certificate to check what the intern did. Include:

  • The company letterhead and the date
  • The intern’s full name, college and course
  • The start and end dates
  • The internship title and team
  • The main tasks or project
  • One line about their work (optional)
  • The signature of their manager or HR

Internship certificate vs experience letter

An internship certificate is for students and trainees who finish a fixed internship. An experience letter is for employees who leave the company. If an intern later joins you full time, give them an experience letter when they leave.

Is an internship certificate the same as an internship completion letter?
Yes. Companies use both names. It confirms that the intern finished the internship, with the dates and the work they did.
Should the certificate mention the stipend?
Most don’t. If the college asks for it, download the Word file and add a line with the monthly stipend.
Can I make one for a remote internship?
Yes. Add "(remote)" to the internship title, for example "Marketing Intern (remote)". The rest of the certificate stays the same.
Who should sign it?
The intern’s manager or the HR manager. Print it on the company letterhead and add the company stamp if you have one.
